Bolton Releaseze

Nigel Reo-Coker of Bolton Wanderers looks dejected as they are relegated after the Barclays Premier League match between Stoke City and Bolton Wanderers at Britannia Stadium.

Well its a sorry time to be a Bolton fan, are we going to rub it in? Probably they have always said they were better and bigger than us, it doesn't look like for much longer. But lets not get dragged down in the dirt over that. What I am interested in, is that fact that they have released a total of 12 players who are now avaliable on a free.

Most of them are youth players who bulked out their squad, but there are a couple of players that maybe worth a look at. We are selves are releasing players this summer, a total of about six if my fiqures are right, most of which are fringe players that we aren't to bothered about.

Yet from Bolton two players shout out for me they are the striker of Ivan Klasnic and midfielder of Nigel Reo-Coker. Both have been a round and about in the Premier League and have shown they can cut it at the top level very well.

Nigel Reo-Coker has a great pedigree and was once tipped to become one of England's top midfielders. That never really developed for the player but he is still worth a look at and I don't think he would command a massive amount of wages, so within our price range. He would be a definte started and would only strength our team especilly with the departure of Diame.

Ivan Klasnic is another prospect that I think we should look at. He has scored goals for Bolton 30 of them in 77 apperances. Which is a very good return from the Croatian international. He may comand more wages, but with Rodallega leaving there is excess there and on a free a striker who can score would be a big help.

Jean Joins and Maynard Myth

Jean Beausejour of Birmingham in action with Claudemir Silva of CD Nacional during the UEFA Europa League Play-Off match between Birmingham City FC and CD Nacional

Well its been a busy Wednesday. Haven't 25 days of quite everything seems to be going off at once, and today gave us not one but two massive surprises. First about lunch time (UK time) the club released an official statement, saying that Nicky Maynard was not on his way to Wigan.

Hang on a minute, Britol City said we had been given permission to talk to him. So what is going on there then? Well according to the head honcho (Johnny Jackson), the club inquired about Maynard, yet have not lodged any bid and have not looked to talk to the player.

What is going on?

Roman Golobart Stay North

Photo

Today the club has confirmed that young defender Roman Golobart will remain on loan with Inverness CT for the remainder of the current playing season. The young defender has struggled to get into the Wigan first team defense, and with playing regular first team football in a very physical league, his development will only continue to grow.

We wish Roman the best of luck and hope that he keeps moving forward. God knows we need a good center back.

Chris Kirkland Returns

What will Martinez decide about Chris Kirkland?

Poor poor Chris Kirkland. He hasn't had a good spell the past few years, and his run of bad luck looks set to continue. He was never meant to remain out of the Latics side for very long (until Ali stole our hearts). But could his latest set back, run his career.

30 year-old Kirkland, had only last week completed a move on loan to Doncaster. He was able to play in their 3-0 defeat to Leed United, and this is where the problem begins. After the match Chris's infamous back, flared up yet again. It has been confirmed, that for the time being, Kirkland will return to Wigan Athletic.

Kirkland Deal Done

Chris Kirkland has more or less officially moved to Doncaster Rovers. The move has looked like it would come to a halt after Martinez said Kirkland was wanted at Latics. However that hasn't stopped Donny getting their man, who will remain on loan till January.

Van Loan from Chelsea

Patrick John Miguel van Aanholt, when I read that name before I went who? I think many other people would have done too. But looking at the 21-year-old who has completed a season long loan move from Chelsea, it has been a very good move.

The left back who has played at all youth levels for Holland is one to watch, and links have already been made with a loan move last year of Tom Cleverly.

Martnez was happy to have signed the full back, who will provide cover for Maynor Figeroua.

Roberto said:

"Technically he is very gifted, very comfortable in possession and physically, he uses his intensity to defend very effectively.

He can play left-back or left wing-back and without a doubt he's got a phenomenal career ahead of him.

We rate Patrick really highly and his professionalism and his personal attributes will be a huge asset to us this season.

Like Tom Cleverley (on loan from Manchester United) last year he is a young player who is hungry to learn his trade and I feel both parties can benefit hugely from the move."

Maloney Moves

The 28-year-old Scottish attacking player has signed for the Latics from Celtic on a two-year deal. The former Aston Villa man, who in 2006 was named SPL young player of the season has plenty of quality and ability to add to the squad.

Maloney who made a total of 158 appearances scoring 39 goals in total at his time at Celtic park, and former team-mate of Gary Caldwell, adds another experienced and talented player to what is looking a strong Latics squad.

Roberto said he was happy to welcome the experienced and talented player to Wigan, and was looking forward to making the player feel homely and welcome at the Lancashire club.
