Preview: Wigan Athletic vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wigan Athletic Manager Roberto Martinez salutes the fans at the end of the Barclays Premier League match between Wigan Athletic and West Ham United at the DW Stadium.

Well this is going to be a very very special game. Not only because it will be a big celebration of Wigan Athletic staying up (kind of bad to rub it in the face of Wolves, but oh well.) the celebrations to be promoted with an 8th minute round of applause to celebrate eight seasons in the Premier League. That was club imposed and to be honest, I don't think it was necessary, its going to be a party atmosphere whether they like it or not

Its also a special game though as it will mark the first use of our new home kit. I have to say I rather like the new look, but I have always liked the blue and white stripes. The black collar adds something, and it will be a nice kit. But costing £39.99 that's an awful lot of money, and I don't know how many people will be dashing out to get it on Saturday when it is released. A very clever bit of marketing by the club, especially considering the last shirt was over a month behind schedule.

Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs Wigan Athletic

Yakubu of Blackburn Rovers celebrates after scoring the first goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers at Ewood Park.

Sorry that this has come late, and unfortunately its not due to have had a football packed week. Although if you follow the English game there have been some great matches to watch over the past few days and that is excluding the FA Cup final. But I digress to this weekends biggest game (yes you heard me right, who's interested in the big sides battling it out?).

Latics go into this game brimming with confidence and in the pole position to go out and achieve Premier League survival. We won't know till later today what result we will need, but nether the less the lads should be going out to win yet another game in style. And style is the key word here, all season it has been the high paced counter attacking possession game, and until February it wasn't working.

Then along came Shaun Maloney.

Preview: Wigan Athletic vs Newcaste United

Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse celebrates after scoring the first goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at Sports Direct Arena.

It wasn't meant to be this close! After a great past few results for Wigan, everyone else has upped their game, and it now means that this weekends game against Newcastle is going to be a big one. In other words we have to win, although we were planing on that already, having not picked up anything against Fulham has seriously hurt us.

The good news is that we are still playing well Fulham is and always will be Fulham. We never seem able to play well or beat them, but the game on Saturday was ours for the taking as much as theirs. But with the home support, the London club was always likely to nick that winning goal. The story of our season.

So with three games to go (four if your Bolton) everything is now on a knife edge. Bolton and Blackburn are only one point behind us, while QPR are only in front of us on goal difference, this couldn't be tighter and we don't really deserve them to be so tight.

Preview: Fulham vs Wigan Athletic

Clint Dempsey of Fulham scores a goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Wigan Athletic and Fulham at DW Stadium.

What a past seven days it has been for Wigan Athletic.we have beaten both Manchester United and Arsenal in the space of a week, and could have gotten something against Chelsea. If we had beaten the blues, then we would probably be safe now.

As it is, we sit ahead of the pack; or second depending on how you look at it. And now face four teams we should beat, us being Wigan probably means we will now lose all four games and go down, don't put that past us.

Yet to show we really are playing well and going against the odds, we will have to beat Fulham away. Something we have yet to do since joining the Premier League, and personally I don't see us doing just yet. But then I didn't see us beating United and Arsenal.

Preview: Arsenal vs Wigan Athletic

Theo Walcott of Arsenal celebrates after scoring their second goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal at Molineux.

Well here we are, at the last of the four games upon which it looked very much like we would get no points, we in actually fact got nine points and were unlucky not to have got ten or even the full twelve. Being cheated against Chelsea really helped us to push on for a great victory against Manchester United.

This time round we are playing an Arsenal side, that after a shaky start to the Premier League, have come bursting into life and could so easily have been challenging for the title had they not slipped up so so early. Now however they are in full force and we face the daunting prospect of needing to pick up points, against a team which isn't dropping them.

Together United we Stand!

Well the second game of the three of no points is edging slowly closer. This time however there doesn't really look like any hope of us getting anything from the game. Last time out against Chelsea was our best chance of getting anything, it could have even been three points. But alas another game were the officials cheated us out of it.

Yet we now play the only 'top four' that we have yet to beat in the Premier League. They are the biggest of the big, and have basically ran football in this country since the 90's and there looks like no stopping them, so long as Sir Alex remains at the helm.

So what kind of chance do we have?

Preview: Chelsea vs Wigan Athletic

Fernando Torres of Chelsea reacts following a missed chance during the Barclays Premier League match between Chelsea and Wigan Athletic at Stamford Bridge.

Ah well been goo run we have been on. Eight games with only one defeat, but it looks very much like that the next three games will give us the rewards of three loses and having to do it all again with four more games to go. So first up is Chelsea, away at Stamford Bridge. Only once have we come away with anything from Chelsea in the Premier League, that was a 1-1 draw under Steve Bruce.

Any result would be very much welcome, but what the players need is to go out and play with their hearts, giving everything. Just to show we won't lay down. Even if we don't get something from the game, keeping the high level of performances is a must for the squad.

A Late Preview: Wigan Athletic vs Stoke City

Victor Moses of Wigan Athletic competes with Stefan Savic of Manchester City during the Barclays Premier League match between Wigan Athletic and Manchester City at the DW Stadium.

This one is a bit late due to me being busy during the week and not getting time to sit down and right about the upcoming encounter. None the less it is probably going to be the most important match of our season to date, that is if Latics are to stay up in the Premier League.

Stoke City are far from the easiest of opponents to play when you need a win especially when you are looking for only your second home win of the season. While they will look to continue there good run of late after a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at the Britannia.
