Injuries
Come on Franco!
Not many would ever believe it, but our Argentinian striker (Franco Di Santo) has turned out to be a very good player, eventually. It has taken him over a season and a half but he is playing some great football, and the team will and have missed him when he hasn't been on the pitch.
His recent turn in form has come straight from the fact that he has somehow gained some confidence. I don't know where or how, but our Franco realized that he is big and fast, and that is a dangerous kind of player for Premier League defences to play against. If only he could score.
I would argue for him, that this has been his best ever season return, but five goals a season isn't really good enough. Its what you would expect of your midfielders.
Antolin Alcaraz Out Agian?
Our Paraguayan defender is yet again looking to miss more game time this season. It hasn’t been the best of starts, after his return from a very successful Copa America. So far this season he has only played six games.
Missing the first game of the season, upon his return against Swansea, he managed just over 20 minutes before having to be taken off for a ruptured calf.
Banned: Antolin Alcaraz to face FA Charge
The Paraguyian defender is set to miss more game time this season, after spitting out at Wolves defender Richard Stearman on Sunday. Where will Latics bad run end?
I for one, don't see it as a personal insult to Stearman, it was fuelled by frustration from Alcaraz. Who yet again put in a below par performances for the Latics as they slumped to an 8th league defeat.
Banned: Gary Caldwell to Miss Wolves Trip
Captain Gary Caldwell will miss this coming weekends important trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, after picking up his fifth booking of the season, ruling him out for the next game. The defender who had a so so game against Fulham, where he acquired the fifth booking, will not be missed by the fans.
Yet will he be missed by the team?
Mohammed Diame Sidelined?
The signs didn't look good did they? When Diame was taken from behind by Steve Sidwell, in the weekends game by Fulham. It was in all fairness a fair challenge, the player won the ball. In days gone by that kind of tackling would have been applauded by all. But it caused Diame to go over oddly on his ankle.
Mohamed Diame, in his usual buoyant self tried to carry on. Yet it was apparent to all that his game, had been cut short, and it could cut him out of the Latics line up for the next few weeks. The player has having a scan and the club awaits the results, as to what action will need to be taken.
Injury Update: Alcaraz makes Slow Progression
Atonlin Alcaraz the Paraguayan international defender has not had the best of starts to a Premier League season. After a great summer away from international duty, Paraguay reaching the final of the Copa America, he came back and missed the first game of the season due to fatigue.
What you don't then expect, is for the player to last 20 minutes and come of injured.
Injury Update: Hugo Rodallega
The Columbian striker, who was stretchered off against Everton last weekend, has had some good news through in the past few days. Amid fears that he could have been out for the rest of the season, it now looks like he will be back with in two to three months.
Much better than originally feared.
