Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-2 Aston Villa

Our last Premier League game for now, ended in a disappointing draw. In front of massive Wigan crowd the players did deliver on some lovely flowing football and both teams really went at the game; it was the story of Latics season though.

Match Report: Arsenal 4-1 Wigan Athletic

Here is the summing up of the game, which has cost Wigan Athletic their Premier League status. From the first minute this team looked tired and out of the energy and belief to really force the issue and get the win.

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-3 Swansea City

At half time of this match I was visualizing an article which would show the rise of the club from the face of adversity, and the character shown by our players to fight long and hard for their Premier League place. By the 90 minute mark, I was wonde

Match Report: West Brom 2-3 Wigan

A win at the weekend was a must, we couldn't give in to a draw, and most certainly couldn't sit back and take a defeat. To the credit to our players, they stood up and were counted in a game which could swing our survival chances back into our favor.

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

With the loss of Antolin Alcaraz the Wigan starting line-up had to change there was no getting round that. But in a bizarre move which confused many, Roberto Martinez brought a midfielder in defender, dropping Gary Caldwell back to the bench.

Match Report: West Ham United 2-0 Wigan Athletic

Disappointment, that is what I was and many Wigan fans were feeling after the weekend’s game. After the City performances we felt that we could step up now and win a few games and look to climb out of the bottom three. How wrong were we?

Match Report: Manchester City 1-0 Wigan Athletic

The score line flatters a City team which deserved nothing but to be on the end of a Wigan Athletic win. Wigan though, as has been our problem for large parts of the season, couldn’t take their chances.

FA Cup Semi Final: Millwall 0-2 Wigan Athletic

What a day, what a game, and what a result! History is well and truly in the making here. Away from our league woes, Wigan look like a team out to win everything, and strolled through to the FA Cup final; that was after a tough twenty minute.

Match Report: QPR 1-1 Wigan Athletic

If you had asked me would I take a point from this game before it, I would have said yes, but following the 90 minutes that played out at Loftus road, then we have to say it was an opportunity lost to gain three points.

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 1-0 Norwich City

A must win was the emphasis on this one. The win against Newcastle could all come undone if we didn't managed to beat Norwich and start to pull ourselves out of the bottom three. Thanks to a superb Arouna Kone goal in the last ten minutes of the game

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-1 Newcastle United

Afternoon full of controversy, and for once Wigan came out the better for it. Should Callum have been sent off? Yes, will he get punished now? most likely. Was there a handball for the final goal? Well it looks to have hit a hand.

Match Report: Everton 0-3 Wigan Athletic

Words to describe the performance and the result on Saturday? There are no good words, none with a strong enough meaning as to what it does and will mean to the club, let along the staff, manger, player and in particular the owner.

+

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 0-4 Liverpool

A chance, that was what we had this weekend. The games sat right with us, Southampton being pegged back and Reading losing. Aston Villa facing the champions on Monday, a win could really see us storm into revival. But that has all been wasted.

+

Match Report: Reading 0-3 Wigan Athletic

One of those often talked about six pointers occurred this weekend. This one between two sides close to each other in the bottom three. A win for one would carry them clear of the other, so winning this one would be important for how the rest of thei

Match Report: Huddersfield 1-4 Wigan Athletic

A result which could boost our season. It books Latics a quarter final trip to either Oldham or Everton with Wembley in sight, it also is a massive boost of morale ahead of an important up coming Premier League game against fellow struggles Reading.

+

Match Report: Chelsea 4-1 Wigan Athletic

This is getting harder, and harder each week. We seem so close to getting it right as a team, yet we seem so far away from winning games. This one was a prime example of how well we can do, then how we can fall to pieces.

+

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-2 Southampton

Lack of power, and determination have lead me to a late report about the game on Saturday. Much like Wigan my performance is poor, yet unlike Wigan, I haven't managed to scrape out a result.

+

Match Report: Stoke City 2-2 Wigan Athletic

A Jekyll and Hyde performance from our Latics yesterday evening, yet at a ground where under Martinez we have yet to lose, we continued that form by pulling back a 2-0 deficit to a 2-2 draw. A first half where the team where dire, before a second hal

+

Match Reports: Macclesfield 0-1 Wigan Athletic

The Latics have managed to pass into the fifth round of the FA Cup as Wigan close in on a place at Wembley. It was all at the expense of a valiant Macclesfield team, who pushed Latics close right to the end of the game.

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 2-3 Sunderland

The common consensus amongst our fans was that we had to win this one. Yet the hardy north-eastern club who are use to adverse conditions managed to battle back from 1-0 down to win this one. It all came at a price, and that was the 12 million they s

+

Match Report: Bournemouth 0-1 Wigan Athletic

It had to be a routine win; nothing else would do for this one. Yet Martinez kept faith in his kids s he looked to book Latics passage to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

+

Match Report: Fulham 1-1 Wigan Athletic

When you need points you don't pick a team you haven't beaten the past three seasons do you? Well Wigan had no choice as we played our true bogey team Fulham, and when you go to Craven Cottage, whoever you are you expect a tricky game.

+

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Bournemouth

Both teams made changes ahead of this game. For Latics only two players started the game from the same lineup which played against Manchester United on New Year's Day. Bournemouth made a few themselves and looked to play a more defensive style.

+

Match Report: Wigan Athletic 0-4 Manchester United

Confidence gone? Well a 30 minute spell against the League leaders were we could and should have taken the lead is something to take heart from. Yet losing the rest of the game 4-0 is something we have to clamp down on, it could have been worse.

+

Match Report: Aston Villa 0-3 Wigan Athletic

This was always going to be a big game and the lad needed to take advantage of Villa's current bad form. Normally we find it hard to do so, yet we came away with three goals and three points and now can start to re-build our confidence.
