Things are all good down at the DW Stadium, and that isn't just in the short term. But what secret ingredient have the lads pulled together to take them towards the next level in football.
We Wiganers like a good moan don't we, lets be honest. When do we not like to argue that the manger got it wrong, or that our elderly relatives could do better than our Spanish import (Jordi Gomez). Yet is there anything for us to moan about at the moment? Okay we can moan between matches when the team don't perform well from one week to another, but we always do that.
the truth is dear Latics readers, that Roberto Martinez has this squad and club geared up not only to our continued Premier League survival, but our long term future. Not only as a team in the football league, but a team that can compete and play in the top league for years to come.
So this isn't a post trying to get at the staff or players. It is a well done, a pat on the back and a keep up the good work. We have vastly exceed what I think realistically we thought we could do. Okay maybe one or two less defeats, yet the solidity If the team and the short cup run, have only increased the teams morale.
We have always been a club that says we are a family club and stick together, unity if you will. That has only been strengthened unde the current regime. The big egos have gone, and the big wage packs have been dropped. Martinez hasn't been afraid to lose his big players if they aren't part of the team. Mohamed Diame, Hugo Rodallega and Charles N'Zogboa all wanted pastures new and they were willingly allowed to go. A very similar stance to that of Manchester United, none is bigger than the club.
That holds true, the togetherness of the players is shown in their work effort and how much they think and feel as a team. We may be a group of individuals but they work as a team playing together for each other backed by us; their united fan base.
This is the way forward at the club, and continuity with one manager and staff leading the way.
