Jean Emanuel Beausejour Coliqueo of Birmingham holds off Ryan Donk of Brugge during the UEFA Europa League group H match between Birmingham City FC and Club Brugge KV.
After saying yesterday that it looked unlikely we were close to signing anybody, with in the space of 24 hours it appears that Wigan are finally closing in on the signings that have been long over due. That is of course due to sources, nothing has officially been confirmed as I write this.
I wouldn't expect much till most likely mid day tomorrow, but here is what it sounds like as we stand on two, possibly even three signings that could be on their way to the club.
The Scottish forward has had mixed past few years. After a great start to his time at Birmingham, a torrent of injury's saw him leave the club and until October last year he was clubless, till resigning for Everton where he made his name. Since his return to the club, James has only featured in two games, and a move for the player by Wigan is said to be in motion.
A £1.5 million bid would likely be accepted by an Everton side that would look to make money on the player who they signed on a free. This is the least likely deal to be true, but what I have heard, a move could be on.
The 25 year old Britol City striker is one of those players that has shown plenty of talent, but has yet to really step it up. After a good mid season, he was rested against Doncaster at the weekend, amid speculation that he is on his way out. Reports at one point suggested that West Brom were moving in for the player.
However it is now believed that Wigan have made a £2 million bid that was accepted last night by Bristol City.
The winger has been a player Wigan wanted to sign in the summer, however last minute bids failed to impress, yet talks have been on going. It has been reported that in the last few hours, Wigan have had a bid accepted for the player, and that tomorrow he will talk out personal terms with the club.
This deal i could see being true, as Martinez likes this player a lot.
Make of what you will of the above. Yet things are starting to hot up for players moving, as the window draws to a close. The chances of Wigan make a signing are high, as new players are needed to help keep this club in the Premier League.
