Wigan's two young Spaniards are heading in opposite directions as they both grow up and mature in the footballing careers. The players in question Abian Serrano and Roman Golobart are both wanted players, both joined with Martinez 2009 and have been part of a growing youth system.
Golobart who has been the more prominent player of the two, has been unlucky to get into the team through two injuries in his first season. First breaking his leg, before tearing his calf. He then went on to have a great second season has part of our Youth Development Squad.
This season Golobart has been on loan to Inverness CT, and after a shaky start to his time in Scotland has grown into the side and manger Terry Butcher now wants to extend the defenders loan deal.
Serrano is set to return to Spain, with the most unlikely of teams. Real Madrid are said to be offering the players a contract to play for their B-team. The midfielder have not really impressed since coming to Lancashire. Yet if Madrid want him, it makes you wander how good he is.
